Who We Are

Where Materials Science Meets Human Physiology

Ion Technologies operates at the intersection of materials science and human physiology. Our work begins with a simple but powerful premise: the body is bioelectric, and the skin is an active surface where meaningful biological signaling occurs.

We develop material architectures designed to interact with that environment during normal wear — not as a device attached to the body, but as a textile interface that engages naturally, continuously, and comfortably.

Our Mission

Turning Bioelectric Science Into Wearable Reality

Our mission is to expand what materials can do. We engineer textiles and interfaces that do more than cover the body — they are designed to participate with it.

Our focus is passive, practical bioelectric engagement, built to support performance, recovery, and restoration through mechanisms the body already uses.

What Sets Us Apart

Bioelectric Activation Without the Burden of Hardware

Most smart solutions rely on electronics, batteries, or constant user input. Our approach starts at the material level. For textiles, we embed elemental zinc directly into polymer-based yarn – the zinc is integral to the ZnTech™ yarn structure, not a surface coating. For wound care, we coat existing clinical carrier materials with elemental zinc particles using a proprietary process.

In both cases, the active element is in the material itself, and activation requires nothing more than skin contact and the moisture naturally present at the surface.

That creates continuity without complexity, and a user experience that feels like wearing fabric – not managing hardware.

Our Foundation

Two Decades of
Bioelectric Innovation

Ion Technologies was founded on deep, applied expertise in bioelectric medicine and skin science. Dr. Scott Sheftel and Jeff Skiba have worked together for over twenty years at the intersection of dermatology, advanced wound care, and microcurrent technology. As inventors and patent holders, they have spent two decades translating the clinical science of electrical stimulation into practical, wearable material architectures from early hyperhidrosis applications to the development of ZnTech™ and its current expressions in performance textiles and wound care.

A Disciplined Approach
to Innovation

We distinguish carefully between what is under evaluation, what is supported by testing, and what is informed by real user experience. Our goal is not to overstate. It is to build a platform that can stand up to technical, commercial, and clinical scrutiny.
