The Science

The human body is naturally bioelectric

The human body runs on bioelectricity. A continuous flow of low-level microcurrent governs how skin cells communicate, repair, and renew — the natural electrical activity that underlies healthy tissue. ZnTech™ is engineered to reinforce it.

ZnTech™ engineers elemental zinc into contact with the skin — woven into yarn, coated onto dressings and matrices, and adaptable across formats. On contact with skin, the zinc reacts with the body’s own moisture and the oxygen in the air to form a natural zinc-oxygen “battery.” The result is a gentle, imperceptible microcurrent at the skin’s surface — generated passively and continuously, with no devices, batteries, wires, or charging. It is bioelectric technology built into the material itself, working in concert with the skin’s own electrical environment.

Microcurrent
Engineered Into Fabric

ZnTech™ is our proprietary elemental zinc technology, expressed in two distinct material formats: as elemental zinc embedded into polymer-based yarn for textiles, and as elemental zinc particles coated onto wound care carrier materials such as collagen or hydrocolloids. In both formats, the same electrochemical reaction occurs — zinc oxidizes in the presence of moisture and oxygen at the skin surface, generating continuous low-level microcurrent. This microcurrent mimics the body’s natural electrical stimulus. The microcurrent generated is the same principle as a zinc-oxygen battery, built into wearable and clinical material form.

That microcurrent creates a localized electric field at the skin interface. The field interacts with the body’s existing bioelectric environment, supporting physiological responses that are well documented in clinical research with improved circulation, moisture regulation, tissue level stimulation and microbial and fungal protection.
